Brief History of National Ice Cream Day
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared the third week of July to be National Ice Cream Day along with July known as National Ice Cream Month by signing proclamation 5219. In this proclamation, the president called ice cream the perfect dessert and snack food and stated that over 90 percent of Americans enjoy it on a regular basis. He also stated that Americans should observe this day with activities and celebrations. So let's party, it's basically the law.

This made-to-order nitrogen ice cream shop will be offering guests a complimentary Limited National Ice Cream Day scoop on July 17 at select South Florida locations.
Cold Stone Creamery: Special Deal
This year Cold Stone Creamery is uploading a sweet perk for customers to their app. It’s free to sign up so make sure you have the app downloaded. You’ll receive an offer for $4 off a purchase of $20 or more when you place the order through the app. That’s not all Cold Stone Creamery is offering either. Dippin’ Dots: Free mini cup
This chain is celebrating on July 17 with free ice cream across the country. The flash frozen beaded ice cream will offer a free mini cup of Dippin’ Dots at participating locations.
DiGiorno: Pizza cones!
For National Ice Cream Day, the frozen pizza brand is turning its Croissant Crust into ice cream cones and collaborating with a Cleveland-based ice cream maker to create two savory ice cream flavors – Strawberry Tomato Basil and Parmesan Cheese – to be paired with the cone. Kits containing the cones, ice creams and a grocery card for toppings be available through an online National Ice Cream Day sweepstakes from July 7 through July 17.
Drumstick: Win Ice Cream for a YEAR
Because July 17 is not only National Ice Cream Day but also National Tattoo Day (who knew?), the frozen dessert brand Drumstick is offering people a chance to win free Drumstick sundae cones for a year if they share a photo of themselves rocking a real or temporary ice cream tattoo on Instagram or Twitter and tag @Drumstick with the hashtag #DrumstickInk. For all of July, rewards members can redeem a variety of deals that will be randomized throughout the month, including a free small ice cream and a buy one, get one free small ice cream.
McConnell’s Fine Ice Cream: Free Scoop
This ice cream brand is beloved for its flavors made with grass-grazed milk and cream and local, sustainable and organic ingredients. The brand is offering a free extra scoop with the purchase of a single cup or cone on July 17 at their scoop shops in SoCal. Those shopping online nationwide can get 20% off their order with code NICD2022 all weekend, July 16 through July 17.
Menchie’s: $5 Off During National Ice Cream Month (When You Play Their Game)
Frozen yogurt chain Menchie’s is celebrating National Ice Cream Month and their 15th birthday with a month-long game through their app. Everyone who completes the game in July will get $5 in Menchie’s Money, plus a chance to win a $2,000 gift card.
Plus, on Menchie’s actual birthday, July 23, you can get BOGO 50% off on your froyo from noon to 2 p.m. Offer available through the app (IOS / Android) and website.
